• Library data:

  The large LIBRARY.DAT file (ca. 3.5 Megabytes) is the fruit of several years of work by our institute librarian Mrs. Usami, Ms. Hoshi, the input and correction staff including Ms. Fujioka and Mrs. Shirai, and the data manager and supervisor Urs App. Almost all of the 20.000 included titles were collected by YANAGIDA Seizan who donated his entire private library to the institute. The file contains our registration number, author name, author name reading in kana, book ti tle, book title reading, subtitle, place of publication, publisher, month/year of publication, and classification code according to the Japanese classification standard and the Komazawa supplement. • Annotated bibliographies:
  1. The first electronic version of Prof. Yanagida Seizan's Zenseki kaidai", that classic repertory and description of Chan texts, coded with hot-text links in HTML form. Since this is in Japanese, you must have a Japanese-capable system, and the default encoding and font in your browser must be set to Japanese.
  2. Urs App's "Annotated Bibliography of Reference Works for Chan Studies."

• Sparsely annotated or list-type bibliographies:
  1. Urs App's "Bibliography of English Publications on Zen, 1977-1992" with all titles translated into Japanese.
  2. Alexander Kabanov's Bibliography of Russian Publications on Chan/Zen (up to 1990).
  3. Pal Miklos' Bibliography of Hungarian Publications on Zen (1990).
  4. Michel Mohr's Bibliography of French Publications on Chan / Zen (1984-90).
  5. Dieter Schwaller's and Urs App's Bibliography of Recent German Publications on Zen (1990).
