New2Old, Old2New

These are two tools that were developed in the context of the Zen KnowledgeBase research project. They convert JIS texts from postwar Japanese simplified characters to pre-war full forms and vice-versa.

We recommend using the New2Old tool before using the Jis-Big5 (JB) or Big5-JIS (BJ) conversion.

Usage DOS

Old2New sourcefile or New2Old sourcefile
You will be prompted for a name to be given to the resulting file. The original file is not touched.

Usage Macintosh

Drag the icon of the text you want to convert on the Old2New or New2Old pyramid.
You will be prompted for a name to be given to the resulting file. The original file is not touched.
